Stunt scootering is not about racing against each other but learning new tricks together and pushing each other!”

-Yanic

Does a 3.2 million reach on one single post sound impossible? Not for @yanichaf. This young German Slamm rider has taken social media by storm. Since he first stepped foot on to the platform, he has not looked back and has amassed a following of 285,000 and 3.6 million likes, and these numbers are continuing to grow.

Interested in stunt scootering? We got up close with Yanic to hear what he has to say on his TikTok achievements and how he works on the platform. Plus, we discuss how he got into stunt scootering and where he thinks the sport is going.

Firstly, can you tell us a little about yourself?

My name is Yanic (@yanichaf - Instagram, @yanicaf - TikTok), I'm 20 years old and I'm from Germany; near Dortmund! I study ‘Sports and Health Technology’ while dedicating all my free time to stunt scootering. Since 2020, I am also active on TikTok and upload new tutorials and scooter videos there every day.

How long have you been scootering and what got you into the sport initially?

I have been riding for 5 years now and have been a permanent part of Slamm Scooters since 2019. My best friend got me into the sport initially - he was always on his scooter jumping over obstacles, which I found impressive, so I bought a stunt scooter and started to learn tricks.

What do you love most about scootering?

I love the community and the challenge of learning new tricks. Stunt scootering is not about racing against each other but learning new tricks together and pushing each other!

What achievements are you most proud of?

I am very proud of the number of subscribers I have on TikTok (currently over 285,000 people!). Though, what excites me the most is seeing how

kids are inspired by my videos and how my videos help them learn new tricks.

What are your thoughts on the strength of the sport at the moment?

I personally don't think that stunt scootering is an underestimated sport anymore. In my opinion it seems to be the fastest growing action sport in the world. It's incredible to see how many kids can suddenly do tricks that were considered almost impossible 5 years ago!

Who are some of your favourite riders?

Jonathan Perroni is my favourite rider. He rides hybrid and combines street and park tricks like no other. He rides incredibly clean and has a truly beautiful riding style.

How has Slamm Scooters impacted the scooter scene?

Slamm Scooters has done everything right in recent years. Through the constant improvement of their parts, Slamm has managed to become a global player in scooter companies. Through their use of in-house design, they’ve managed to create an incredible, high-quality product at an excellent price point.

Why is Slamm a great fit for you?

Slamm has been supporting me for over 2 years and has allowed me to develop as a rider. They adapt to my needs and implement my ideas based on my experiences directly into their new components. Through this close rela

tionship I believe they now make the best decks in the UK!

What are your favourite Slamm completes and why?

I think the Sentinel models are the best! The deck is optimally designed for a hybrid riding style; thus, each rider can use their own style. In addition, I’m a big fan of the stunning design.

What are your favourite Slamm components and why?

My favourite Slamm components are the wheels. My favourite are the V-Ten’s as they are very robust, don’t rub off too quickly and have an incredibly good grip on any surface. I have ridden a lot of wheels in the last 5 years a

nd have tested all categories from cheap to expensive. Slamm stands out as a true price/performance winner!

What do you like most about Slamm Scooters?

Slamm Scooters offers the right scooter for every riding style and performance level. In addition, I love their attention to detail and how they are constantly working to improve the parts.

What would you like to see from Slamm in the future?

I wish I could buy the parts separately! Many kids would like to buy a deck as a spare part for their custom scooter, this is unfo

rtunately not possible yet.

What are your next steps in the scootering world?

My goal in 2022 is to inspire even mor

e people and to run workshops and tutorials for beginners on my social media channels.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

If you really want something, you can do it!
