Skate Park Etiquette

Always respect other skate park users, the skate park itself and the surrounding areas. Respecting other riders will ensure they respect you. Here are some general tips for good skate park etiquette.

  • Do not snake other users. Snaking is when you ride in front of someone else when they are riding in the skate park. This can be very dangerous as the other rider might not be able to stop and may crash into and injure you.

  • Always look before you ride. Be aware of your surroundings, make sure your line is clear and no one else is about to drop in or ride where you are. Keep an eye on other riders and be mindful of where they are riding and where they might go in the skate park.

  • Learn the lines of the skate park. This especially applies when you visit a new skate park. Take the time to learn the flow and direction of the skate park so you can ride confidently. You may end up riding in front of someone else if you don't know where you're going.

  • Don't hog the park. Everyone is at the skate park to ride and enjoy the sport. Wait for your turn to ride the skate park, don't jump in front of other people that are waiting to have their turn. When it is your turn, don't hog the park, finish the run that you're on then allow another rider to use the park as well.

  • Don't block ramps or stand in the way. Be aware of your surroundings and don't stand where another riders might want ride. Don't stand on the top of a ramp with your front wheel having over the edge. This can be very dangerous if another rider hits your wheel and cause injury and damage to your scooter.
